Description
In this shamelessly derivative work Peter Blake, who lives and works in Chiswick, west London, pays homage to the great William Hogarth, who also lived and worked in Chiswick almost three centuries ago.
The inkjet print is taken from a drawing Hogarth made of himself and his pet pug, who was called Trump. It is a signed and numbered print from a limited edition created by Peter Blake specially for the “Art Car Boot Fair” in 2015. This fair has now become a regular annual event where well known artists offer their work at affordable prices.
Read a report about the fair which includes a photo of Peter Blake.
A statue of Hogarth and Trump by sculptor Jim Mathieson now adorns Chiswick High Road, where it was unveiled by David Hockney and Private Eye editor Ian Hislop in 2001.
