Rolls, Nicki
About the artist
Nicki Rolls’ work focuses on plants, above all wildflowers and weeds. For the past few years her activity has concentrated on the River Crane, a tiny tributary of the Thames that flows - otherwise largely unnoticed - through the boroughs of Hounslow and Richmond in west London.
Her sculptures, such as River Bird and River Goddess, are made from iron objects and debris that she finds and retrieves from the Crane, forming “mythical figures that represent the power, life force and energy of the river”.
